I appreciate that you atleast took the time out to find out what the whole 'naked issue' campaign is about. This is however, only half the story.... I don't see you talking about the men that also took part in the campaign. For someone who 'seems' to advocate gender equality, you seem to be pretty sexist yourself with your double standards. It baffles me how you find a couple of public figures, posing in their most natural state in a very tasteful manner might I add, 'imorral'. Who's morals are we talking about here? What are we supposed to be teaching our kids? That they should be ashamed of their bodies and hide behind layers of clothing for their rest of their lives? That being naked is disgusting, immoral and they'll be going to hell? I feel like this piece shows nothing but ignorance. It was God who said 'Let he without sin cast the first stone'.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your input Vuvu, I will however object your seeming conclusion that I am sexist. I am not, infact I continue to advocate gender equality in this very opinion of mine. Needless I say, it is not a man's buttocks that caused a stir in social media yesterday. Do I support men who are according to you 'posing in their most natural state', no I am not. Am I mindful of the aftermath this could have in society, Oh yes I am. Is it men who get raped daily, No, although they do, it is women who continue to fight the struggle. Am I against one, admiring their so be it natural stature? no, I am all for that. But showing it off to the rest of the world all because of some good cause, is no way correct to me. My 'ignorance' might be somewhat pointless to you but if we are going to talk a language of women dignity and empowerment, we should be able to address behaviour beyond our defensive parallels.
DeleteIt is not a men's bum that put us under the cheap microscopic view as woman yet again. Yes boitumelo has a well curved body just like we all do. Why she showed it for the rest to see al in the name of feeding a soul remains inexcusable. There is no excuse at all for this. NONE!!! I will support every man and woman behind an opinion of this nature. I love this piece Spitch and I hope you don't mind me using it as reference on my show. Women must wake up and smell the sea.
DeleteWhat you are saying is the equivelant of saying women should'nt wear mini skirts..... A woman should be allowed to pose however, and wear whatever she wants without having to worry about these crimes against women you speak of perpertaited by men. Again- double standards. So men are allowed to pose naked, but women arent?? What times are we living in kanti?
ReplyDeleteSpitch when ladies voiced their disapproval of this issue it was of course seen as mere envy or plain jealousy. Without saying much i do really believe you are the voice of reason where all is deemed as acceptable in the name of freedom & 'judgment' a term used to dismiss any correction. Thank you for your voice thank you respecting us women the way you do.
